1935–36 Port Vale F.C. season

Before the match the teams paid their respects to the recently deceased George V with Abide with Me, during which the "Mariners" wore overcoats as the Vale players shivered – this was the excuse used to justify their conceding four first half goals.

Dorothy was the sister of the botanist, Henry Lyte, and the sixth great aunt of Henry Francis Lyte, curate at Brixham and writer of numerous hymns including "Abide with Me".

The main B-side is "Take Me to the Place", which is musically based on the hymn "Abide with Me" and the traditional melody "Eventide".
