It varies little from the southern languages of Ayr, Azawagh or Adagh, with the differences mostly being substitution of sounds, for instance Tamahaq instead of Tamajaq or Tamasheq.
Chris Eckman (member of Dirtmusic and The Walkabouts) also produced Adagh, Tamikrest's first album.
