Agia Marina, Crete

Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Chania, of which it is a community.

Maleme

Its beach is made of fine pebbles and is popular though often less crowded than the beaches of Gerani, Agia Marina and Platanias.

Samariá Gorge

The gorge became a national park in 1962, particularly as a refuge for the rare kri-kri (Cretan goat), which is largely restricted to the park and an island just off the shore of Agia Marina.


South Euboean Gulf

With a total length of approximately 50 km and a width of 10 to 20 km, it stretches nearly diagonally from northwest to southeast, from the Euripus strait, which connects it to the North Euboean Gulf, to the Petalies Gulf near Agia Marina in the south.
