Airdrieonians F.C. (known from 2002 to 2013 as Airdrie United F.C.), a new club formed in place of the original Airdrieonians

Airdrieonians F.C.

Accountant and Airdrieonians fan Jim Ballantyne attempted, with the help of others, to gain entry with a club called "Airdrie United" who were essentially to be a reincarnation of Airdrieonians.

Airdrie are currently managed by Gary Bollan, and club chairman Jim Ballantyne also served as president of The Scottish Football League and sits on the board of The Scottish Football Association.


Clydebank F.C.

After the liquidation of Airdrieonians, a consortium led by Jim Ballantyne put forward a bid to fill the vacancy in the SFL and build a new club in Airdrie from scratch.

Gus Caesar

He then embarked on a journeyman's career, playing for Cambridge United, Bristol City, Airdrieonians (where he played in the 1992 Scottish Cup Final) and Colchester United.

Niall Thompson

He started his professional career as a trainee with Crystal Palace but after an unsuccessful spell moved to play for Colchester United, Montreal Impact, Zultse VV, Seattle Sounders, Brentford, Vancouver 86ers, Airdrieonians, Bay Area Seals, Wycombe Wanderers, Montreal Impact and Vancouver Whitecaps.

Tosh McKinlay

In November 1994 he joined Celtic in a £350,000 transfer and just over six months later gained his first winners medal as the Glasgow side defeated Airdrie to win the 1994–95 Scottish Cup.
