He was Managing Director of Janssen Pharmaceutica from 1999 till 2008 and he was Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2004, when he succeeded Bob Stouthuysen, until February 2012, when he retired.
On 1 October 1991 he became chairman of the Board of Directors which he would remain until 2004 when he retired and was succeeded by Ajit Shetty.
