In the 2008 presidential election the village voted overwhelmingly for the right-wing DISY candidate Ioannis Kasoulidis (68%), against the Communist Party AKEL candidate Dimitris Christofias (32%).
The first round, held on February 17, saw a close result between three leading candidates, Dimitris Christofias of AKEL, Ioannis Kasoulidis of DISY, and the incumbent Tassos Papadopoulos.
In 2001 she was elected in Nicosia to be among AKEL’s members of the House of Representatives, and was re-elected to the same position in 2006.
In 1996 he was elected Member of the House of Representatives as a candidate of the left-wing party AKEL in the Nicosia electoral district and was re-elected in the parliamentary elections of 2001.
It was instrumental in the 1948 strikes in the mines of the Cyprus Mines Corporation and has been closely related to AKEL.
In the last election for the European Parliament, which took place in June 2009, AKEL managed to gain 34.9% of the votes, and again elected 2 out of Cyprus' 6 members (Kyriacos Triantaphyllides and Takis Hadjigeorgiou.)

Cyprus joined the EU in 2004, and in the 2004 European parliament election, AKEL elected 2 members (Adamos Adamou and Kyriacos Triantaphyllides.)
