The Old Norse name of the river was Frysja, and this old name has been revived as the name of a neighborhood along the river.
Nordengen quickly became a much loved figure with the citizens of Oslo and despite being born in rural Østfold, he was a true Oslo patriot (even recording a version of the well-known Norwegian song "Akerselva", a tribute to the popular river that runs through the city).
In late autumn of 2007 they moved their main production to Maridalsein 87, on the banks of the Akerselva.
He was responsible for the industrial development of the area around the river Akerselva in Christiania, and served as Director General of Statens Havnevesen from 1861 to 1896.
Braaten is best known for his popular plays and novels depicting the life of factory workers alongside Akerselva in Oslo.
