Akobo Airport is a small civilian airport that serves the town of Akobo and surrounding communities.
Fighting that spread as a result of the 2013 South Sudanese coup d'état attempt led to the deaths of two Indian peacekeepers, while another soldier was wounded in Akobo, Jonglei, on 19 December.
Part of the Nuer Zone, Wentawo is bordered on the south by Akobo, on the west and north by South Sudan, on the east by Jikawo, and on the southeast by Anuak Zone; the Akobo to the west and the Baro River on the north define Wentawo's boundaries with South Sudan.
