The last few years of his life were spent in Boroughshire and by 1800 he fee had dropped back to 10gns and 10s 6d.

A resident of Boroughbridge, he was returned in 1735 as Member of Parliament for Aldborough, succeeding his late father-in-law William Jessop.
He went to Downshall Secondary Modern School (eventually ended up as Seven Kings High School) on Aldborough Road in Seven Kings near Ilford, then Newbattle Adult Education College in Newbattle, Midlothian, from 1961-3.
Among the notable people to hold the title were Christopher Wandesford, successively MP for Aldborough, Richmond and Thirsk and briefly Lord Deputy of Ireland.
The stone used in its construction came from an old Roman quarry in the grounds of Aldborough Manor, and from a quarry at Cotgrove, while the stone for the internal arch was from Burton Leonard.
The original township of Aldborough was named in 1792 after Aldeburgh, Suffolk, England.
