In about April 1826, two Tahitian Missionaries, Hape and Tafeta, from the London Missionary Society (LMS), stopped over in Nuku’alofa on their way to Lakeba in Fiji.

She seemed ardently desirous of imitating the conduct of Mary of Bethany.

His baptismal name Josiah was chosen from the biblical king who had destroyed the idol and restored the people's allegiance to God.
