According to a legend, seven Franciscan monks attempting to convert Lithuania to Christianity were murdered there during the reign of Duke Algirdas.
Algirdas Kaušpėdas (born August 12, 1953, in Vilnius, Lithuania) is a Lithuanian rock musician, the leader of Lithuanian rock group Antis, an architect and one of the Sąjūdis initiators.
A native of Vilnius, Algirdas Šemeta graduated in 1985 from Vilnius University's Faculty of Economic Cybernetics and Finance with a degree as economist-mathematician.
Called "AJ" by friends, Budrys was born Algirdas Jonas Budrys in Königsberg in East Prussia.
