Designed by Sir Alliot Verdon Roe in 1926, the Ro-Monocar used a 250cc Villiers two stroke engine, and featured a high degree of enclosure for the rider and a bucket seat.
At age 18 in September 1911, he began work as Alliott Verdon-Roe's (later Sir Alliott) personal assistant and the firm's draughtsman at A.V.Roe and Company based at Brownsfield Mill, Manchester.
A green plaque to commemorate aviation pioneer Alliott Verdon Roe was unveiled by Wandsworth Council and members of the Verdon-Roe family beside the A3 close to Wandsworth Fire Station on the site of Roe's first workshop in the stables of his brother's house at 47, West Hill.
