The first track, "Il Testamento del Capitano", is a live performance of a traditional song-chorus by the Alpini, an elite mountain warfare unit of the Italian Army, that was booed by the spectators.
After his graduation in 1935, he served in the Italian Army, attending the officer course for the Alpini corps.

The main task of the regiment was the training of the recruits for the Alpini regiments based in the Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions of northern Italy.
Like the Alpini and the members of the Mountain Artillery regiments the soldiers of the 2nd Alpine Engineer Regiment wear the distinctive Cappello Alpino.
The regiment itself was reformed on 1 July 1963 as a training unit with four battalions, which were named for the four Alpini Brigades to which the conscripts were sent after training: Tridentina, Orobica, Cadore and Taurinense battalions.

After World War II the 6th Alpini regiment was reformed on April 16, 1946 in the city of Meran with the battalions "Edolo", "Bolzano" and "Trento" and became the sole Alpini regiment of the reformed Alpine Brigade Tridentina.
The second battalion of the brigade, the Feltre Alpini Battalion in Feltre along with the Agordo Mountain Artillery Group in Bassano del Grappa was tasked to cover the many Dolomite mountain passes on the left flank of the Pieve di Cadore Alpini Battalion.

Therefore the Pieve di Cadore Alpini Battalion was based in Tai di Cadore and tasked with holding the Kreuzbergpass and Cimabanche pass.
