The Gravina di Matera is an Italian river in whose source is between Altamura and Gravina in Puglia in the province of Bari.

On 11 September 1478 in Milan, she married Frederick of Aragon, Prince of Squillace, Altamura and Tarento (1452–1504), the future King Frederick IV of Naples.
In 1485, Basilicata was the seat of plotters against King Ferdinand I of Naples, the so-called "Conspiracy of the Barons", which included the Sanseverino of Tricarico, the Caracciolo of Melfi, the Gesualdo of Caggiano, the Orsini Del Balzo of Altamura and Venosa and other anti-Aragonese families.
After studying with her father, Beniamino Carelli, at the Conservatorio San Pietro a Majella, she made her professional debut in 1895 in the title role of Mercadante's La vestale during the centenary celebrations at Altamura and went on to appear in the opera houses of many Italian cities.
It is served, like the other two stations in the city, Matera Sud (the line terminal) and Matera Villa Longo, by several regional trains to Altamura and Bari Centrale.
