Somewhat north of Amöneburg runs Federal Highway B 62 (Biedenkopf - Alsfeld) with connections to B 454 to Schwalmstadt and B 3 towards Marburg.
In 2004 the group acquired control of the German cement company Dyckerhoff (founded as Portland-Cement-Fabrik Dyckerhoff & Söhne in Amöneburg by Wilhelm Gustav Dyckerhoff and his sons in 1864).
Mainz had to accept almost all of its possession in Upper and Lower Hesse as Hessian fiefs, only Fritzlar, Naumburg, Amöneburg and Neustadt remained as allodial Mainzer possessions in the area.
Stadtallendorf borders in the north on the town of Rauschenberg (Marburg-Biedenkopf) and the community of Gilserberg (Schwalm-Eder-Kreis), in the east on the town of Neustadt, in the southeast on the town of Kirtorf, in the south on the town of Homberg (Ohm) (both in the Vogelsbergkreis), and in the west on the towns of Amöneburg and Kirchhain (both in Marburg-Biedenkopf).
This zone is a succession of grabens that run from the Rhone Valley through the Rhine Rift, the Wetterau and the Gießen Basin, below the Vogelsberg foothills to the Amöneburg Basin, and from there over the Neustadt Saddle in the West Hesse Depression and continuing along the Leine Graben to the Oslo Rift valley.
