The film was initially titled Nanba and had a tagline of 2 Idiots, and thus the media reported confusion between this film and Shankar's Nanban, the remake of the 2009 Hindi film 3 Idiots.

Amali Thumali is an upcoming Tamil comedy film directed by K. S. Adhiyaman and produced by Jeevagan.
In 2012, the actress changed her name from Suja to Suja Varunee, to try and make a breakthrough in films and signed on for two projects directed by K. S. Adhiyaman's Amali Thumali and Thappu Thalangal.
She had previously been expected to work with Nakul in K. S. Adhiyaman's Amali Thumali, but had opted out.
