American Dance Festival

Modern dance choreographers and companies including José Limón, Pearl Lang, Bella Lewitzky, Sophie Maslow, Alwin Nikolais, Merce Cunningham, Ruth Currier, Erick Hawkins, Paul Taylor, Alvin Ailey, Twyla Tharp, Eiko & Koma, Seán Curran, Maguy Marin, Pilobolus and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker have all given performances there.

Ana María Stekelman

In 1976, 1978 and 1990, she was invited to participate in the American Dance Festival.

The company has toured the world, performing in the most important cultural festivals, such as: The Autumn Festival in Madrid, Biennale de la Danse de Lyon, Colorado Dance Festival, The American Dance Festival, World Financial Center in New York, and twice at the Kennedy Center.

Kate Weare

In 2001, Zwei, a film created with Canadian filmmaker Kenji Ouellet, screened at the Dancing for Camera Festival at the American Dance Festival, Dance Theater Workshop’s Film Festival and was an award finalist for the Dance on Camera Screening at Lincoln Center.

Mark Howell

In addition to his band work, Howell has composed for Lynn Shapiro (at the American Dance Festival 1994), Amy Sue Rosen, Diane Torr, and Stephanie Artz.


Jeraldyne Blunden

Blunden made sure her students were able to gain a broad range of experiences, including summer opportunities and scholarships to attend schools such as the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and the American Dance Festival.

Her experiences included performances and classes at American Dance Festival, Antioch Summer Theatre, Connecticut Dance Theatre Workshop, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and The Alvin Ailey Dance Center.
