Hecker closed out his career in 1995 with the Amsterdam Admirals of the World League of American Football, handling both coaching and front office duties.

He played his Senior year of high school football at Tamalpais (Mill Valley, CA), college football at the University of Oregon and also played a season in his homeland for the Amsterdam Admirals of the (then) WLAF.
That final play ended with Norman LeJeune writing history for the Amsterdam Admirals when he batted away a Dave Ragone pass intended for WR Redd.
Leijten's coaching skills were noticed by Jeff Reinebold, then the defensive backs and special teams coach at the NFL Europa Amsterdam Admirals (now WR coach at the Southern Methodist University).
