Numerous wildlife species can be seen including elephants, gaur, water buffaloes, tigers, panthers, sloth bears, pangolins, Black-headed Orioles, crocodiles, Green Pigeons, civet cats, Dhole, Sambar and 31 groups of endangered lion-tailed macaques.
This species occurs in the Western Ghats of India, specifically on the wetter western slopes of the Wynaad, Nilgiri, and Anaimalai Hills, at moderate elevations (3000 ft).

Found in the hills of southern India, Trimeresurus strigatus is distributed in the Nilgiri, Anaimalai, Palni, Tinnevelly, and Shevaroy Hills of the Eastern Ghats at elevations of 3,000-6,000 ft (900-1,800 m) (M.A. Smith, 1943).
