Ang Peng Siong was ranked world's No.1 in 1982 for clocking 22.69s in the 50m freestyle during the US Nationals and was named the World's Fastest Swimmer for 1982 by Swimming World magazine.
He was also the 50-yard champion at the US Swimming Championships in 1982 and 1986, and was named an All-American for four consecutive years from 1981-84.
Kunalan also made a cameo appearance in the music video for one of the three 2010 Summer Youth Olympics cheer songs, You Are The One Singapore, alongside former athlete Ang Peng Siong and swimmer Tao Li.
