He began his career writing theme songs for cartoons for Antenne 2 under the pseudonym of Paul Persavon, including Cobra and Space Sheriff Gavan (known in France as X-Or).
De Caunes was born in Paris, the daughter of the actor and director Antoine de Caunes and the director and graphic designer Gaëlle Royer.
She also played in the movie Les Deux Papas et la Maman with Smaïn, Arielle Dombasle and Antoine de Caunes.
She has appeared in several TV series, including The Fast Show, Gimme Gimme Gimme, Thin Ice and Happiness, and "straight" roles in The Bill and Holby City but is probably best known as the narrator for Antoine de Caunes and Jean-Paul Gaultier's Eurotrash.
Other screen credits include channel 4’s A Stab in the Dark with David Baddiel and Michael Gove, All I Want – A Portrait of Rufus Wainwright, Kitchen Criminals, Masterchef, and voicing over many music documentaries and the long-running BBC2 show Rapido, presented by Antoine de Caunes.
