The "Marina branch" was demolished in 1989 to make way for the construction of La Vila Olímpica del Poblenou and the B-10 motorway, after which Line R1 adopted its present route by being re-routed through the centre of Barcelona using the Aragó tunnel (:ca:Túnel d'Aragó) and the Meridiana tunnel (:ca:Túnel de Meridiana).
All fossils recovered from Arago were found by Henry and Marie-Antoinette de Lumley and are now located at the Institute for Human Palaeontology in Paris.
