It was named after Archbishop Edwin Vincent O'Hara, former Bishop of the diocese of Kansas City-St.


Acta Sanctorum Hiberniae

Aided by Father Hugh Ward, O.F.M., Father Stephen White, S.J., and Brother Míchél Ó Cléirigh, O.F.M., Colgan sedulously collected enormous material for the Lives of the Irish Saints, and at length, after thirty years of sifting and digesting his materials, put to press his Acta Sanctorum Hiberniae, a portion of the expense of which was defrayed by Archbishop O'Reilly of Armagh.

Olyphant, Pennsylvania

Private schools in other towns though receive Olyphant students, among them La Salle Academy in Jessup (K-8), Bishop O'Hara High School in Dunmore and Scranton Preparatory School in Scranton.

Slipper Chapel

The Slipper Chapel contains a stone statue of the Virgin Mary carved by Marcel Barbeau, and crowned by the Papal Representative, Archbishop O'Hara, on the Feast of the Assumption in 1954.
