She was best known as the first wife of Aristotle Onassis, but she later married her older sister Eugenia's widower, Stavros Niarchos.
It was regularly used by the British satirical magazine Private Eye, most notably on the cover of issue 180 in November 1968 which showed a photograph from the wedding of the former Jackie Kennedy in which the bride was apparently saying: "You are Aristotle Onassis and I claim my five million pounds"

Purchased by Aristotle Onassis from war surplus, she was refitted and renamed Arion and presented as a wedding present to Rainier III, Prince of Monaco when he married actress Grace Kelly.
