In addition to all his swimming accomplishments Arjun also trains in Martial Arts and is a first kyu brown belt in Shidokan and a 5th kyu purple belt in Gōjū-ryū Karate.

Along with his brother Amar, Arjun participated in the national Open water 10 kms endurance swim race held at Pune finishing second with a time of 1 hour 4 mins and 55 seconds.

In the 2006 Asian Games held at Doha, Qatar, Arjun smashed his own national record in the 100 m butterfly.

Arjun, the younger brother of Amar Muralidharan, is also a police officer working at the Border Security Force since 2002 under the sports recruitment program.
