Carr Bank is a small hamlet near Arnside, Cumbria, England.
A short stub from Arnside to Sandside lasted into the 1970s to serve local quarries.
The River Kent used to run to the sea wall by the railway but since 1993 the Kent has moved out towards Arnside and the sands have become overgrown.
Milnthorpe became a centre of business and activity because it was originally a port, using the River Bela and estuary (now only navigable to Arnside), and it remains a significant commercial centre for the area.
These walks are typically once a fortnight (from spring to autumn), from either Hest Bank or Arnside over to Flookburgh Point or Kents Bank—tide and river levels (the River Kent has to be crossed at some point) allowing—and are often in support of a charity.
The intermediate stations are: Cark and Cartmel, Kents Bank, Grange-over-Sands, Arnside and Silverdale.
