Good left KIFM for a brief period to host a program on competitor KSWV 102.9 ("The Wave", now Spanish music station KLQV), returning when KSWV discontinued their Smooth Jazz format.

In 1981, while he was the Program Director for a struggling Adult Contemporary-format station in San Diego named KIFM, he began an evening program of jazz-tinged instrumentals entitled Lites Out San Diego.
