In 1949, Elaine de Kooning wrote an article on the painting for ARTnews, illustrated with photographs documenting its progression through various alterations and transformations.
Since the publication of this book, she has worked in the publishing industry for more than 20 years, holding senior editorial positions at Rizzoli, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Aperture, and ARTnews.
His writing has published in Art in America, Artnews, ArtReview, The Art Newspaper, Frieze and the New York Press (for which he was the weekly art critic between 1998 and 2003).
She has also written monographs of Jackson Pollock and Esteban Vicente as well as numerous articles on literature, art, and literary and art criticism in such publications as the New York Times Book Review, New York Times Magazine, The Nation, Art in America, Partisan Review, New York Arts Journal, Salmagundi, Journal of Modern Literature, and ARTnews.
After his stint with ARTnews Langsner went on to teach at the University of Southern California where he taught Art History.
