Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget, a former Swedish industrial company, now part of Asea Brown Boveri
Highgate has had an HVDC back-to-back station since 1985, which was built by Asea in the record time of eight months.
CEO at the time of the merger was the former CEO of ASEA, Percy Barnevik, who ran the company until 1996.
Upon his graduation, he worked as a researcher at ASEA, now known as ABB, a Swiss-Swedish multinational corporation headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland.
He left Glasgow to join the multi-national Swedish engineering group ASEA (now ABB) and worked with them in Denmark, Sweden and South Africa.
Lamm was appointed by ASEA in 1961 to work with General Electric on the Pacific DC Intertie project, which combined long AC and HVDC transmission systems to move electrical energy from the hydroelectric generators of the Pacific Northwest to consumers in southern California.
He has recently joined a band called A Storm of Light with Josh Graham (Neurosis, ex Red Sparowes, Battle of Mice, Blood and Time) on guitar and vocals, Domenic Seita (ex Tombs and Asea) on bass, and Pete Angevine (Satanized) on additional drums and percussion.
Building of the stock has been carried out by SIG, with electrical equipment by Brown Boveri / Asea Brown Boveri and later by Stadler with electrical equipment by Steck, (except No. 231 which was built by SLM with electrical equipment by ABB).
