unusual facts about At the Mountains of Madness

F. Orlin Tremaine

Tremaine remained editor until 1937, during which time he bought such important stories as H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness (sold by Julius Schwartz) and The Shadow Out of Time (sold by Donald Wandrei), apparently without reading them.

Crimson Peak

Del Toro sent them his screenplays for a film adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness, a Western adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo, and Crimson Peak.

Pnakotic Manuscripts

They are mentioned in many of Lovecraft's stories, including At the Mountains of Madness (1936), The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath (1926), "The Other Gods" (1933), and The Shadow Out of Time (1936).

Weird Tales

Wright (who suffered from Parkinson's disease) continued to publish stories by Lovecraft, Smith, and Quinn, though he was more selective than Baird; he rejected Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness", "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" and (initially) "The Call of Cthulhu", among other stories.
