Sarapamon (Serapis Amon), Bishop of the Holy Diocese of Atbara, Um Durman and All the North of the Sudan and Titular Bishop of the Great and Ancient Metropolis of Nubia: Faras of Nobadia, Dongola of Makouria and Soba of Aloudia.
In 1898 the regiment fought at Atbara and Omdurman during Lord Kitchener's reconquest of the Sudan and saw service in the Second Boer War at Johannesburg, Diamond Hill and Belfast.
Berkeley also depicted contemporary events and several were published as photogravures by Henry Graves including The Victory of Candahar, Charge of the Gordon Highlanders at Dargai, Atbara, and Omdurman.
They were used on Port Sudan to Atbara and Atbara to Wad Madani routes, until they were made redundant by diesel locomotives.
