Aleppo Citadel Museum

The museum was opened on 26 September 1994 with the presence of then-minister of culture Najah al-Attar.

Attar

Ittar, Attar, or Itr, a natural perfume extracted from the juices of flowers, herbs, spices, and/or barks into a base oil

Layla Al-Attar

Kris Kristofferson dedicated and wrote a song about Layla called "The Circle".

On June 27, 1993, Layla, her husband and their housekeeper, were killed by a U.S. missile attack on Baghdad which was ordered by U.S. President Bill Clinton in retaliation for an alleged assassination attempt by the Iraqi Intelligence Service on former U.S. President George Bush, during his visit to Kuwait in April 1993.

Tuncay Güney

The name Güney goes by in Canada is the same as the person who was convicted in absentia with Canadian citizen Mohammed el-Attar (now jailed in Egypt) for being spies for Israel.
