Maurus von Schenkl (b. at Auerbach in Bavaria, 4 January 1749; d. at Amberg, 14 June 1816) was a German Benedictine theologian and canonist.

Heinrich Stromer (b. 1476 in Auerbach in der Oberpfalz – November 25, 1542), professor at the Leipzig university, physician and founder of Auerbach's Cellar.
Its present name comes from the original owner, the Leipzig city councilor, professor of medicine and rector of Leipzig University Dr. Heinrich Stromer, who was familiarly called Dr. Auerbach after his birthplace, the town of Auerbach in Germany's Upper Palatinate region.
There is a street named Charlotte-Auerbach-Straße in Stuhr-Brinkum.
