He was the brother of Auriol Davidson née Soames (who died under a train in Cheshunt in April 1919) and of Olave St. Clair Baden-Powell née Soames, World Chief Guide.
Auriol Lee was killed in an automobile accident in or near Hutchinson, Kansas on July 2, 1941.
His book, La lettre d'imprimerie (The Letter of the Printing Office), was printed in Auriol, a typeface designed by its namesake, George Auriol and reflecting typical Art Nouveau design.
