The construction of a third section between Figueres and Llançà has been recently approved by the Spanish government.
It is 32 km (20 miles) long and runs from the centre of Vigo to the Portuguese border on the Minho River at Tui.
The route roughly corresponds to the ancient Roman 'Silver Route' from the mines of northern Spain to the Mediterranean.
It is 12.7 km (7.9 miles) long and runs, parallel to the N-532 road, from the Autovía A-52 near the small city of Verín to the Portuguese border at the village of Feces de Abaixo, where it connects with the A24 autoestrada to Chaves.
