11 unusual facts about B92


2003–04 ABA Goodyear League

On Friday night, April 16th around 11pm following the semifinal games, an ethnically motivated incident occurred when Crvena zvezda's director Igor Žeželj and B92 journalist Danijel Bukumirović got assaulted at the parking lot of Panorama Hotel by an organized group of fifteen Croatian hooligans with chains, rocks and metal poles.

A Band Called Quinn

A Band Called Quinn played The Refract Festival in Serbia in 2005 after their song The World Is Upside Down was played on Serbian radio station B92 by Slobodan Konjovic and went to number eight in the Serbian Diskomer Chart.

Aleksandar Kolarov

The entire Kolarov case was featured in early 2008 on B92 television's investigative journalism programme Insajder that focused on criminal activities in Serbian football.

In November 2006, "Par godina za nas" was voted the best former Yugoslav popular music song (on the B92 Top 100 Domestic Songs list) by the listeners of Serbian B92 radio.

Slavko Ćuruvija

In April 2006 piece on B92 TV, commemorating 7 years since the unsolved Ćuruvija murder case, Branka Prpa recounted few more details of the Ćuruvija-Marković exchange: "He was shouting 'What are you doing this for? You're going to cause a widespread war!' Mira then told him 'Oh, so you want them to bomb us.' He responded 'Well, maybe they should bomb you, it's the only way for us to finally get you out of power!".

First deputy prime minister in charge of fight against corruption and organized crime Aleksandar Vučić, who was Minister for Information in Serbian government at the time of the Ćuruvija's murder, announced on a TV talk show for B92 TV that there has been a recent progress in the investigation of the murder of Ćuruvija and that he expects it to be resolved soon.

Ten-Day War

However, the incident sparked renewed public debate after the footage was shown on Serbian TV station B92 in 2006, with many claiming that the soldiers were shot and killed by Slovenian TO troops and that Slovenia is trying to cover up the affair.

The Erased

An article from 2013 published by B92 stated that over 26000 people had their residence rights taken away in February 1992, ending up in a situation "worse than refugees", since they had no possibilities for work and social protection.
