After returning to Houston he joined the law firm of Baker & Botts (Baker, Botts, Parker & Garwood, now Baker Botts) in 1924 (with James A. Baker, Jr., father of James Addison Baker, III), and served as chairman of the Rice University board of trustees 1967 to 1973.
After the war he returned to his law practice in Houston, Gray, Botts & Baker.
In March 2007, Sandia National Laboratories retained three additional attorneys at the international corporate defense firm of Baker Botts.
The Chamber is chaired by T. Don Stacy, co-chaired by James A. Baker, IV (Baker Botts, LLP) and Reza Vaziri (R.V. Investment Group).
