Ali al-Faraj

At the start of February 2010, it became public that al-Faraj had financed the purchase of the club by means of a £17 million bridging loan from Balram Chainrai's company Portpin Ltd.

It has been asserted by some Portsmouth fans that Al-Faraj is actually a pseudonym for Balram Chainrai.

Balram Chainrai

Balram Chainrai is a Nepalese based businessman that was born in Okhaldhunga District, eastern Nepal and migrated with his family to Hong Kong with his British Gurkha Army father and brought up in Hong Kong and that holds a British passport, who formerly owned Portsmouth Football Club.

On 27 February 2012 a leading insolvency expert said that he believed Chainrai might never get back the £17m that he was owed by the club, and that security could be devalued by the courts if administrator Trevor Birch asked for a ruling on its true worth.
