Being a part of the Bandipur National Park, the hills are frequented by grazing wild elephants.
The Biligirirangan Hills are Wildlife Sanctuary under Wildlife Protection Act, 1973, the Malai Mahadeswara Hills is a Reserve Forest, and Bandipur is a National Park.
A plaque now lays in memory of her just above the town of Bandipur on a small hill facing Manaslu.
