Piero Niro, Italian composer and classical pianist, was born in Baranello.
The station was opened on 5 August 1883, upon the inauguration of the Baranello–Campobasso section of the Termoli–Venafro railway and the Benevento–Campobasso railway.
Niro was born in Baranello in the southern Italian region of Molise and initially studied piano and composition at the music conservatory in Campobasso before transferring to the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome where he received diplomas in piano and composiition.
By 25 October the Seaforths had fought their way over 300 miles from the landings in Reggio Calabria to the town of Baranello.
