In 1957 he organized his own group “Barboza y sus compañeros”, with Ramón Mendoza, Leonardo Figueroa and Carlos Centurion, continuing to spread his work through Europe and the Middle East.
In November 1966, he was present at Ralph Lamattina's Nite Lite Café with Joseph Lamattina and Larry Biona when two members of Joe "the Animal" Barboza's "crew", Tash Bratsos and Tommy DePrisco, were murdered (the two had previously been extorting money from local residents to raise bail for Barboza).
In August 1967, after H. Paul Rico testified before a Suffolk county grand jury about his conversations with Joseph Barboza concerning the murder of DiSiglio, the Boston SAC sent an urgent teletype to J. Edgar Hoover at 1:03 a.m.
