The church at Barlow Moor in the parish of his birthplace, founded in 1932, is dedicated to St Ambrose of Milan but changed to St Ambrose Barlow at his canonisation.
Barlow Moor was in early times an area of waste between Didsbury and Chorlton-cum-Hardy and was named after Barlow.
