In 1999 the municipality was merged with the neighboring municipality Schlattingen to form a new and larger municipality Basadingen-Schlattingen.

Since then agricultural amelioration (mostly, relocation of fruit orchards) and a strong population growth has led to changes in the appearance and character of the village.
Finds from the Paleolithic and Roman era indicate that there were earlier settlements in the area.

It was formed on 1 January 1999 from the union of the municipalities of Basadingen and Schlattingen.
