Baruny

In the 18th and 19th centuries the local Basilian monastery was famous for its school, where many of young local noblemen, among them poet Antoni Edward Odyniec and writer Ignacy Chodźko, got their primary education.

Hermit of Santa Maria della Stella

In the 15th century, it become independent from San Giovanni Theristis monastery and Basilians abandoned the sanctuary.


Basilian Alepian Order

Many prominent bishops are members of the Basilian Alepian Order such as cardinal Gabriel Acacius Coussa (1897-1962), bishop Justin Najmy (1898-1968) and archbishop Hilarion Capucci (1922).

He later joined the Congregation of St. Basil, more commonly known as the Basilian Fathers, and studied at St. Basil's Seminary in Toronto from 1963 to 1965, whence he entered the Conciliar Seminary in Mexico City.
