The battle is also known as Battle of Losecoat Field (or Losecote Field), supposedly because the defeated Lancastrians, when fleeing, threw off the distinguishing clothing.
Proximity to the parish meant that the Battle of Losecoat Field during the War of the Roses was once called the Battle of Hornfield.
