It passes the village of West Ossipee and enters Ossipee Lake after flowing through a small delta.

Beyond the lake, the river flows south to the village of Chocorua with a picturesque mill dam, then continues into the flat, sandy Ossipee Lake region, reaching the Bearcamp River at West Ossipee.
The mountain is named after poet Lucy Larcom, who visited the area frequently while staying at the Bearcamp River House.
