He studied philosophy in Beckov and theology in Uherské Hradiště, a local monastery that was a part of the Salvatorian province.
Mednyánszky was born in Beckó, Kingdom of Hungary, Habsburg Monarchy (today Beckov in Slovakia), to Eduard Mednyánszky and Maria Anna Mednyánszky, (née Szirmay) both from landowning families.
There are many monuments in or near the mountain range, including Great Moravian hillfort Kostolec near Ducové, Hlohovec Castle near Hlohovec, Beckov Castle near Beckov, Topoľčany Castle and Tematín Castle.
Its initiator, founder and first director was Dr. Ján Ambra from Beckov.
