In 2012 the APLH saw most of its efforts focused on public demonstrations to protest and protect such archaeological sites as the Roman Hippodrome of Beirut and site BEY194, the alleged Phoenician port of Beirut.

The French State became the owner of the buildings and tenant of the Beirut municipal forest ground which was adjacent and separated from the Beirut Hippodrome by a simple wooden fence.
