Miles Joseph Berkeley (1803-1889) cryptogamist, clergyman, and founder of the study of plant pathology
He was (for about four months in 1623) the rector of St Bartholomew-by-the-Exchange before becoming rector of both Stanwick and Benefield in Northamptonshire on 8 November 1623.
Some of Benefield's books, such as "Valiant Is the Word for Carrie" (1935), are written from the point of view of a Southerner who feels an exile living in the North, and who longs for the more carefree life of a small Southern town.
In 1995, Benefield tied a CFL record with five sacks in a game against the Birmingham Barracudas.
