Benjamin de Rothschild

Benjamin is a scion of the secondary, (non-wine-making) Parisian Rothschild dynasty.

He is the son of Nadine Lhopitalier, a French actress and author who converted to Judaism, and Edmond Adolphe de Rothschild, a Swiss banker of Jewish descent.

His paternal grandparents were the French banker Maurice de Rothschild (1881–1957) and his first wife, the Swiss Baroness, Noémie de Halphen (1888–1968).

Benjamin de Rothschild is Chairman of the board of the Edmond de Rothschild group, Chairman of the board of Compagnie Financière Edmond de Rothschild, Chairman of the board of the CBR, Compagnie Benjamin de Rothschild SA, and Chairman of the board of the private bank Banque privée Edmond de Rothschild SA Genève.

He was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine in France, the only child of the Baron Edmond Adolphe de Rothschild, a banker, and Nadine Lhopitalier (1932–), an actress.

Nadine de Rothschild

Although she was raised Roman Catholic, she converted to Judaism stating: "It would not have been possible to have the name Rothschild and be a Catholic...Nor would it be right for the son of a Rothschild to be half-Jewish and half-Catholic." They had one son born in 1963, Benjamin de Rothschild, shortly after their marriage.
